Care & Maintenance
A Kaya Atelier piece is designed to be enjoyed for generations. Every table, vanity and bespoke furniture piece is expertly fabricated in-house using premium marble, quartz or porcelain, combining timeless materials with exceptional craftsmanship.
While stone is renowned for its beauty and durability, each material has its own unique characteristics. Following these simple care guidelines will help preserve the natural beauty of your furniture for years to come.
Natural Marble
Marble is a natural stone formed over millions of years, making every piece entirely unique. Veining, movement, colour variation and naturally occurring markings are part of its character and should be celebrated rather than considered imperfections.
As marble is naturally porous, it requires a little more care than engineered materials.
Daily Cleaning
Use a soft microfibre cloth with warm water or a pH-neutral stone cleaner.
Dry the surface after cleaning to prevent water marks and maintain its polished finish.
Avoid
- Acidic cleaners
- Bleach
- Vinegar
- Lemon juice
- Abrasive cleaning products
- Scouring pads
- Multi-purpose household sprays containing chemicals
These products can damage the polished finish and permanently etch the surface.
Spillages
Liquids such as wine, coffee, tea, oils, citrus juices and cosmetics should be wiped away immediately.
Although many marble surfaces are sealed, prolonged exposure may result in staining or etching.
Heat Protection
Always use placemats, coasters and trivets beneath hot cookware, serving dishes and drinks.
Avoid placing extremely hot items directly onto the stone surface.
Quartz
Quartz is an engineered stone offering exceptional durability with minimal maintenance, making it an excellent choice for everyday living.
Unlike natural marble, quartz is non-porous and highly resistant to staining.
Daily Cleaning
Simply wipe with warm water and a soft cloth or use a mild detergent where necessary.
Dry with a clean cloth to maintain its appearance.
Avoid
- Harsh chemicals
- Paint removers
- Solvents
- Oven cleaners
- Abrasive powders
- Wire wool
Although highly durable, these products may affect the surface finish.
Heat
Quartz is heat resistant but not heat proof.
Always use heat-resistant mats or trivets when placing hot cookware onto the surface.
Sudden changes in temperature may damage the material.
Porcelain
Porcelain is one of the most durable materials available for furniture, offering outstanding resistance to scratches, stains, UV exposure and heat.
Its non-porous surface makes it exceptionally hygienic and effortless to maintain.
Daily Cleaning
Warm water and a soft cloth are sufficient for most cleaning.
For more stubborn marks, use a mild pH-neutral detergent before drying with a clean cloth.
Benefits
- Highly scratch resistant
- UV resistant
- Heat resistant
- Stain resistant
- Water resistant
- Hygienic non-porous surface
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use (where applicable)
Protecting Your Furniture
To preserve the finish of your Kaya Atelier furniture, we recommend:
- Using coasters beneath glasses and bottles.
- Using placemats during dining.
- Lifting decorative objects rather than dragging them.
- Avoiding impact from heavy or sharp objects.
- Cleaning spills as soon as they occur.
- Using felt pads beneath accessories and decorative items.
A Note on Natural Stone
Natural marble is a product of nature, and no two slabs are ever identical.
Colour variation, veining, mineral deposits, natural fissures and movement within the stone are all characteristics that make each piece completely unique. These features are not defects but a reflection of the stone’s natural origin.
At Kaya Atelier, we carefully select every slab before fabrication to ensure each piece showcases the finest qualities of the material.
Crafted to Last
Every Kaya Atelier furniture piece is precision-cut, fabricated and hand-finished within our own workshop by experienced stone masons.
With the correct care, your marble, quartz or porcelain furniture will retain its beauty for decades, becoming a timeless feature of your home.
